Kampala Capital City Authority has commenced the upgrading of traffic signal-controlled junctions of Nakawa, Wandegeya and Nateete.
The removal of the old traffic lights has started and installation of the upgraded signals will be completed by 18th July 2015.

The junction improvement/upgrade process is intended to provide modern traffic control equipment which will ensure safety of pedestrian as they cross the road. The vehicles also will have their separate time to move through the junction.
The new equipment will also be more intelligent and will provide enough time for the vehicle movements. For example, vehicle movements coming to the city centre will get more time in the morning and those leaving the city in the evening will get more time through the junctions. This will help reduce traffic jams.
KCCA in partnership with Uganda Police are directly managing traffic by use of traffic wardens at these junctions during this upgrade phase. It is important that both vehicular traffic and pedestrians cross the affected junctions with extreme caution.
