CHEICK TIOTE has died aged 30 after collapsing during training this afternoon in China.

Reports broke out this afternoon, where the former Newcastle star  playing for Beijing Enterprises FC in Chinese second division, that he had been taken ill after training.

He was rushed to hospital after collapsing but it was soon emerged that he has passed away by the club.

Tiote made his professional debut for Anderlecht in 2005 before moving to FC Twente three years later and then secured a £3.5million switch to Newcastle in 2010.

The Ivory Coast international scored just one goal for the Magpies but it will live long in the memories of Newcastle supporters, having secured a point in a remarkable 4-4 draw with Arsenal.
