Foreign-based players join as Cranes travel to Bukedea

The Uganda Cranes team continue preparations for the Pharaohs of Egypt clash scheduled for next week on Thursday, with the team travelling to Bukedea for the North Eastern Regional tour.

Some foreign based players like the Cranes captain Dennis Onyango and teammate Joseph Ochaya have already joined the team, while the rest will join after the tour.

The Cranes team had a friendly with SC Villa on Thursday evening at Namboole Stadium that ended in a goalless draw. Joseph Ocahaya featured as a substitute for Shafic Kagimu.

The first leg of the 2018 World Cup qualifier against the Pharaohs will be played on Thursday, August 31 at the Mandela National Stadium.

Egypt lead Group D with six points, followed by Uganda with four points, Ghana with one point and Congo with zero points.

Meanwhile, Ghana will take on Congo on September 1.

The Cranes team traveled to Bukedea on Friday morning.

Traveling team:

Goalkeepers: Dennis Onyango, Isma Watenga and Benjamin Ochan

Defenders: Nico Wakiro Wadada, Isaac Muleme, Joseph Ochaya, Bernard Muwanga, Timothy Dennis Awany, Dennis Iguma, Paul Musamali.

Midfielders: Ivan ‘Kojja’ Ntege, Moses Waiswa, Shafiq Kagimu, Hassan Wasswa, Yassar Mugerwa, Muzamiru Mutyaba, Tom Masiko.

Forwards: Derrick Nsibambi, Nelson Senkatuka, Paul Mucureezi.
