Must read

Kampala: The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda Stanley Ntagali has received the Janani Luwum Church House from Cementers Limited a company that was contracted to build property.

The 16-floor commercial building is located on Plot 34 on Kampala Road, opposite the Bank of Uganda. The building has been constructed at a cost of over US $ 17million from various contributions in schools, churches, donors and a loan that was acquired from Equity bank as the construction commenced in 2010.

“I receive the keys in the name of the Son, the Father and Holy Spirit and I accept the keys of this building and I pray that it will bring glory to God,” said the Archbishop of Church of Uganda.

He applauded President Museveni, Equity bank, Board members of the Church House committee, Watoto Church, all Bishops, Dioceses, and Christians who contributed, with special appreciation given to Canon Joram Kahenano, the CEO of the Church Commissioners Holding Company Limited, who oversaw the final phase of construction.

“He who began this good work is the One who has brought it to completion,” he recited the Bible verse from Philippians 1.6.

According to agreement that was signed between Church of Uganda and Equity bank, Christians contributed 30 per cent of the total amount of money that was used in the construction as the rest is a loan acquired from Equity bank.

Equity bank was given a priority as the first tenant and it will move its headquarters to the building (Church House) to occupy the first four floors of the building.

The build has however been put under the management of Bageine and Company and is expected to generate Shs5.4 billion per year.
