Defending champions Germany slumped to a 2-0 defeat to South Korea and crashed out of the World Cup after their second defeat in Russia.

Late goals from Young won Kim and Son Heung min in Kazan were enough to deny the reigning champions an attempt to defend the title.
Though South Korea didn’t go through to the knock-out stages, the win is the first in their history against Germany.

Germany took 26 shots but mostly failed to trouble South Korean goalkeeper Jo Hyeon-Woo.

In the other Group F match, Sweden defeated Mexico 3-0 to advance on top of the group meaning Mexico also advanced thanks to the South Korean victory.

Germany had progressed past the group stage of the World Cup sixteen times in a row.
