Democratic Party president Norbert Mao is to seek re-election, after he picked nomination forms. According to a list seen by Eagleonline, Mao will among others compete with  Dr Lulume Bayiga at the Delegates’ Conference to be held in July and DP Spokesperson Kennth Kakande says many have shown interest in the party presidency and that the list is still growing.

Others that are vying for top party seats are; Hon, Mukasa Mbidde, for national vice president; Hon Issa Kikungwe, Mr Herbert Lutagwela and Ms. Mary Balimenay for party treasurer; Hon Mathias Nsubuga and Dr. David Dronyi for Secretary General, Kakande Kenneth is running for Publicity Secretary.

Meanwhile, as the party heads to the Delegates Conference, many party members are divided. The party headquarters have been attacked by suspected DP members who don’t support Norbert Mao.

Four were last week arrested by Police and the party offices are under 24 hour surveillance.
