A free newspaper has hit newsstands around Kampala. Dubbed Matooke Republic, this newspaper is distributed free of charge around restaurants, salons, pubs, campuses and malls around town. It covers current affairs in politics, entertainment, technology health among others.

The proprietor, Henry Ssali, during its launch on Wednesday said that Matooke Republic will have both a print version and an e-paper. “The print version of the paper will hit the streets every Wednesday, and because we are targeting a tech savvy demographic, we also have an e-paper where you can read what we have published with the same look and feel of the print,” Ssali on his Facebook timeline revealed.
