Luzira-Former Coordinator of Intelligence services, Gen David Sejusa currently incarcerated in Luzira Murchison Prisons last week refused to meet his friend Gen Elly Tumwine.
Gen Tumwine, the Member of Parliament representing the army in parliament had been sent by President Museveni to talk to the arrested General.
Sources at the correction facility, tell EagleOnline that during the Easter holiday on Saturday, Gen. Elly Tumwine went to Luzira prison to preside over a sports gala as the guest of honor but shortly after the function, asked the prison authorities to pay a visit and also give an Easter gift to Gen Sejusa.
When Gen Tumwine reached the Prisons, he wrote a chit that was taken to Gen. Sejusa to acknowledge whether the visitor should be allowed in or not.
But Gen. Sejusa asked why Gen. Tumwine had come to visit him in Luzira after a long time of incarceration.
“It is true we received Gen. Tumwine here as a guest of honor during the gala. He also wanted to pay a visit to Gen. Sejusa whom, he had described as a friend but upon consultation from Sejusa, he rejected and he looked unhappy about the visit” a source said.
When EagleOnline contacted Gen. Tumwine for comment, he confirmed visiting Luzira as guest of honor but not an emissary of President Museveni.
“It is true I went to Luzira but this was for the gala. But why this speculation? I don’t like this hype” Gen. Tumwine said.
Gen. Tumwine and Gen. Sejusa are longtime friends during and after the bush war that brought President Museveni to power in 1986.
According to military sources, Gen. Tuwmine rejected Museveni’s suggestion to lead Gen Sejusa’s arresting team early February.
