Former Coordinator of Intelligence services, Gen David Sejusa’s incarcerated in Luzira Murchison Prisons has ended on Apirl 1st 2016 after receiving bail.
The army General was on Friday afternoon granted bail by Justice Wilson Masalu Musene of the criminal division of the High Court. Sejusa’s two sureties were Kampala Lord Mayor Salongo Erias Lukwago and Dr Deo Lukyamuzi a surgeon with Case Clinic in Kampala on a Shs. 10million cash bail as well as shillings 50million non-cash bail.
Gen Sejusa, was arrested in February and subsequently taken to the General Court Martial and charged with several offences including insubordination, indiscipline and absence absence from duty without official leave.
The 61-year-old general asked High court to grant him bail on grounds that he is of advanced age and couldn’t handle the harsh conditions of prison life.
Through his lawyers, the general also said the charges against him in the military court were bailable.
Sejusa also sought court’s pronouncement on whether he is still a serving military officer arguing that he was constructively retired from the UPDF after the military failed to reply his application to retire within 90 days as stipulated by the UPDF Act.
