Immediately after clocking two years, Kaymu, Uganda’s largest online marketplace has decided to follow the philosophy behind a customer loyalty program: Repeat customers are rewarded and businesses increase sales. It’s a basic but powerful strategy.
By a simple calculation for instance, rewards programs in Kampala’s food and produce markets are believed to significantly contribute to the vendor’s profit growth through customer retention.
Kaymu has coined their own giveaway promotion called the Kaymu Lucky Dip which started on 14th and runs April 27th.
“It’s all about giving back to our customers,” Kaymu’s Marketing Manager, Stacey Mwesezi reveals.
“We’re thanking our customers for embracing our platform and bringing us this far. We’re not able to give a gift to every single customer we have, but we’ll give every customer who places an order during this promotion, an equal chance of winning – that’s why it’s called a lucky dip,” she adds.
The prizes on offer to the lucky winners include 500,000 UGX cash, Hellofood vouchers, Bluetooth speakers, 5 gigabytes of data courtesy of MTN, CV checks and interview training courtesy of Everjobs, a camping chair and umbrella courtesy of Tusker Malt and a one night stay for two people at the luxury Lake Victoria Serena Hotel, courtesy of Jovago.
