The godfather to Jose Chameleone’s wife Daniela Atim, has passed on today morning.
Father John Scalabrini’s death has been confirmed and he died at Nsambya Hospital, from where he has been undergoing treatment.
According to sources Fr John, as he was popularly called, has been battling age related ailments.
An Italian missionary, Fr John had lived in Uganda for a very long time, and at the time of his death he was about 90 years old.
He was the godfather of Jose Chameleone’s wife, Daniela, whom adopted at a young age following the death of her biological father. Sources say Daniela’s biological father was also an Italian businessman and a close friend to Fr John. Daniela is married to Ugandan musician, Jose Chameleone and the couple has four children together.
Fr John will be remembered for his good works, first in the Gulu Archdiocese and later at the St James Catholic Church in Biina Parish. Apart from helping several vulnerable children, he also built hospitals, churches and schools in the Luzira-Biina-Mutungo area.
