Vodafone Uganda has turned its efforts to the provision of internet.
Addressing journalists at Kampala International University, John Ndego, the Chief Executive Officer Vodafone Uganda, said the major focus for Vodafone Uganda will be on digital, using the power of internet to tap into the younger generations’ potential and ‘help them build their tomorrow today’.
The telecommunications company unveiled its new services and all were related to its internet services.
Among these were two apps that were launched today, My Vodafone and Vodafone Chat+. Chat+ is a mobile app that allows Vodafone customers to make voice and video calls over the 4G network as well as chat and share files with friends.
Contrary to many other apps that provide similar services, in this case one doesn’t have to be with internet to make calls to another except when calling a person on a different network.

Uganda is reportedly ‘the youngest and most entrepreneurial country in the world’. According to the 2014 census statistics by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics, the youth that is the persons below 30 years constitute 78% of the population.

These numbers, according to Ndego, represent a huge potential for the country to turn the tide in technology and innovation “and Vodafone Uganda would like to be part of this journey.”
