You might have heard his music being played on radio or seen his music video aired on different local television stations and wondered who this melodious young singer is: well Dannie Blezz is his name, and not many Ugandans know him.
According to Dannie, his breakthrough has been driven by immense desire to develop his talent, hard work and the right attitude to overcome a barrage of challenges many upcoming artists face. He has had to work hard to improve, impress and gain the attention that he needed to shine.
It is paying off.
Born in 1991 as Dan Wamono Mugirya in Mbale, Dannie Blezz spent much of his childhood with his grandmother after the demise of his mother in 1995. Dannies’s love for music started very early in his childhood, following in the footsteps of his aunt, mother and grandparents who used to sing in churches.
This musical background turned him into an admired singing protégée in school, churches and in singing competition that he participated in while growing up in Mbale, eastern Uganda. He confesses that it wasn’t easy nurturing his talent while living in abject poverty. But talent and vocal prowess always stood as his surety.
Fast forward to 2016, Dannie has a full studio album to his name and is on his way to stardom. He also has a professional management team at Mushroom Arts and Entertainment that is dedicating resources to make sure that he is the artiste that would make Uganda proud.
The ambitions of Mashroom Arts and Entertainment are in tandem with Dannie. They complement each other in a way. In an interview with EagleOnline, Dannie tells of a desire to be the best, on the big stage.
“I sing what I feel. So when you hear my songs, you are hearing my heart. This feeling compels me to sing. How music feels in me. I see myself on a large stage, holding a guitar and a microphone,” he says.
His first album titled Muntu Wange was released this year in August and has nine songs. He already has two videos out and is working on shooting more so that his fans can see him on television, their phones, the DVDs and on all other visual sets.
