State has brought fresh charges of terrorism, aggravated robbery and attempted murder against the Omusinga of Rwenzururu Charles Wesley Mumbere alongside 12 others.
State public prosecutor Grace Ntege brought the new modified charge sheet which contains 11 counts before Chief Magistrate Francis Kaggwa.
The charges are in relation to the incidents that happened in March 2016 in Kasese where a police constable Mr. Geoffrey Kasimba is said to have been killed.
Prosecution alleges that Mumbere and co-accused with purposes of intimidating members of the public for a political ,social, religious or economic reason and without due regard or safety of others attacked Kidodo police post and murdered Kasimba.
Prosecution further claims that the duo robbed Kasimba of an AK47 gun with rounds of ammunitions.
As Court preceded, there was a standoff between police and opposition kingpin, Kizza Besigye and the Leader of Opposition in Parliament Winnie Kiiza when police denied them access. Ms. Kizza is the Kasese district woman legislator and recently was appointed on the steering committee charged with overseeing the affairs of Rwenzururu in the absence of Mr. Mumbere.
Mumbere was arrested after security forces attacked and burnt his palace in an operation that claimed 60 royal guards and 14 police officers. 136 royal guards were arrested and are being detained at different points.
