Rwenzururu King, Charles Wesley Mumbere has been re-arrested hours after Court released him on bail.
The Omusinga was re-arrested and bundled on a waiting police van outside Jinja High Court gate. Justice Eva Luswata of the Jinja High Court had earlier granted Rwenzururu King Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere bail.
Mumbere, who has been on remand in Luzira Prisons, is charged with treason, terrorism and murder among others.
Sources in Kasese have told EagleOnline that people there are excited about the development and expect their king to head straight to his kingdom.
However, court ruled that Mumbere, who was granted a non-cash bail of Shs 100m, is not allowed to travel to Kasese.
Leader of Opposition in Parliament Winnie Kiiza, and Kasese MPs William Nzoghu (Busongora North) Atkins Katusabe (Bukonzho County West), Robert Centenary (Kasese Municipality), Muhindo Tonny Harold (Bukonzo County East) and Constantine Bwambale, a former Prime Minister for Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu were sureties for Mumbere, all told to post a Shs100m bail.
Mumbere’s wife Agnes Ithungu Mumbere and Queen Mother Christine Mukirania attended the court session today. Meanwhile, the Omusinga had holed in court, fearing re-arrest.
