Early this week Bebe Cool requested all local awards organisers never to nominate him. This was in response to allegations that he owns Hipipo music awards.
Well, some thought he was joking and among those were organisers of the Club Music Video Awards, who went ahead to nominate Bebe Cool hours after he issued the request. He was among this year’s nominees, getting a nod in the Viral, Video and Choreography categories.
However, on hearing about the nomination, Bebe Cool asked the organisers to immediately withdraw his name from their awards list, which they did.
“Club Pilsner would like to confirm that Bebe Cool has officially been withdrawn from the Viral Video and Choreography categories in which he was nominated as he (Bebe Cool) requested,” reads a statement by Club Pilsner, the organisers of the awards.
Bebe Cool is not the first musician to request local award organisers to exclude them from their awards.
Recently, Zizza Bafana and Gravity Omutujju requested the organisers of the Hipipo awards to exclude them from their awards, citing bias.
