President Yoweri Museveni has sent condolence message to the police force following the early morning murder of Assistant Inspector General of Police Andrew Felix Kaweesi.
The message was relayed by the Inspectoir General of Police Kale Kayihura, at a roadside press conference held near the deceased officer’s home in Kulambiro.
“I am really touched by the death of my colleague,” the IGP said, adding: “the President has sent his condolence message and promised to help us through the installation of cameras in the city.”
Gen. Kayihura urged people in communities to be very vigilant, saying AIGP Kaweesi’s suspected assailants had earlier been seen pretending to repair their motorcycle. He added that police would not rest until all killers on boda bodas are wiped out.
“We know who the motorcycle murderers are and most of them have confessed, it’s only those who killed Joan Kagezi that we have not yet established,” he said and added: “Kaweesi was a sacrifice because the assailants usually said that they will hurt us the most and now we have witnessed it.”
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Nakawa Nsubuga Balimwezo lauded Kaweesi for his development and community policies, and urged the public to contribute some money to help beef up security by paying crime preventers who help police and other security agencies.
