The Uganda Police is hunting for four of its officers who shot a three-year old child, wounded the mother and another person, Ivan Kito.
According to a release, Seargent Patrick Ewang, PCs Hassan Mutyiba, Richard Mandela and Ivan Chemutai shot toddler Viola Nakawuka and injured her mother Diana Nabakooza, all of Buluma village in Mityana district.
‘The Inspector General Kale Kayihura, has sent the Operations Director to Mityana to investigate the matter and hunt down the officers who went into hiding after the incident’, a statement by police reads in part.
The gruesome incident in Mityana comes in the wake of a public outcry against the irresponsible and illegal use of firearms, the most recent being the assassination of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Andrew Felix Kaweesi, who was killed by unknown gunmen last Friday.
