It all started with Daily Show Host and Comedian Trevor Noah discrediting an article by local tabloid, the Matooke Republic that claimed the US-based celebrity comedian was on a visit in Uganda for the Culture Week.
Indeed, on March 23 Noah denied he had any plans of visiting the ‘Pearl of Africa’.
This was enough to tickle Ugandans on Twitter who took to the hashtag now trending ‘Trevornoahvisitsuganda’, urging and persuading Noah to reconsider his decision as they bombarded him with memes, local cuisines and countless images depicting beautiful sceneries.
In their creativity, the Ugandans even edited him into various locales that would best suit a tourist of his stature.
The trend has kept on for a while with even public figures such as Allen Kagina, and, businesses and organisations Nice House of Plastics, NBS TV joining in the melee in a bid to get Noah here!.
Umeme Ltd. even went a step further and threatened ‘heavy load shedding’ should Noah disappoint his enthusiastic Ugandan fans!
