The Appointments Board of Makerere University has asked the Vice Chancellor to suspend controversial academic Dr. Stella Nyanzi.
The letter dated March 3 and signed by the Chairperson of the Appointments Board Bruce Kabaasa, comes in the wake of Dr. Nyanzi’ vociferous social media outbursts against the First Lady and Minister of Education Janet Museveni.
In the letter Mr. Kabaasa cites the various university restrictive measures on the use of social media by the Makerere members of staff, imputing that Dr. Nyanzi has breached them.
‘This communication is therefore, to require you to implement the decision of the Appointments Board referred to above by suspending Dr. Stella Nyanzi from University Service with immediate effect,’ the letter reads in part.
However, contacted the VC said he was unaware of the development but hastened to add that the matter was being handled administratively.
“Those talks to suspend or not to suspend have been going on but who has said that she has been suspended? We were going to have a meeting to resolve that matter but I can’t talk much” Prof. Ddumba Sentamu told EagleOnline.
