Brigadier Kasirye Gwanga, who is accused of malicious damage to property, has admitted recording statement with Katwe Police Station. The one star general is also reported to have recorded another statement with the Military Police at Makindye Barracks.
Brig. Kasirye Gwanga was summoned by police last week to respond to allegations lodged by one Denis Wakabi under file number SD 27/12/08/2017, and accused of burning a grader that was taken to clear Balangira clan land in Lweza, a Kampala suburb. The said land reportedly belongs to the Brigadier’s wife only identified as Solome.
According to CID spokesperson Vincent Sekate, Brig. Gwanga was yesterday released on police bond till Monday 28, when the DPP will decide on the case.
Meanwhile, Brig. Kasirye Gwanga has reportedly said he does not require a lawyer to defend him in case he is dragged to court.
“What was the tractor doing on my property? I have given them land title of the claimed land for them to investigate,” he said adding that “if we are found guilty, then it is my wife to compensate because the land belongs to her.”
