The Democratic Party has confirmed that Edward Kinene Ssemakula is their flag bearer in the 2018 Makerere University guild race.
“Because of historical distortion many have forgotten what DP has done for this nation, I promise to join you in the campaigns on top of any disturbances from big plants attacking young plants in the nursery bed’’. Mao said
DP President Norbert Mao unveiled Kinene at the DP headquarters on Tuesday. Kinene kick started his guild campaign yesterday.
In his inaugural campaigns, Kinene promised to engage University management to stop sporadic strikes that always occur over various issues.
Kinene,a student from the school of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHUSS) is a Uganda Young Democrats (UYD)/ Democratic Party candidate seeking for students’ top seat.
Kinene said strikes are among the factors that distort the image of the mighty university and therefore their roots must be addressed.
Kinene is competing against National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate Praise Ahimbisibwe, Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Candidate Ronald Ainebyoona among others.
This week Makerere University nominated over 10 guild presidential candidates for March 2 2017, guild election.
Nominated candidates include: Papa were, Edward Kinene, Fredrick Chiluba, Ronald Ainebyoona (FDC), Vuvuzela Taliwaku, Bruno Bayube, Flo Namuganza , Johnson Obbo, Samantha Naluyima, silver Kent Lwamaza Patrick Kamyuka and Praise Ahimbisibwe (NRM). Voting is expected to take place on March 2, 2018
