Police and the army have cordoned off Hotel Brovad in Masaka where Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga spent a night ahead of his journey to Rakai where he is scheduled to visit St Bernard’s SS Manya where 10 Senior three students died in a fire that gutted the dormitory housing over 50 learners.
Police has linked the incident to the four suspended students that they might have comeback, locked students in the dormitory and torched it. Police later confirmed that dormitory guard and four students had been arrested to aid in the investigations.
According to police spokesperson Patrick Onyango, there are negotiations going on to see whether he can go or not. “For security purposes, they are negotiating because there are other cultural leadership in that area so Sternly Ndawula is the spokesperson of the leadership,” He said.
Mr Mayiga Was salted to visit some farmers in the area (Rakai).
Nine years ago the Katikiro Eng. JB Walusimbi was blocked from visiting Bugerere County, this erupted into riots popularly known as Buganda riots.
In 2009 the then Buganda Katikiro, Eng. J.B Walusimbi was blocked at Sezibwa bridge from crossing over to Kayunga district.
