Uganda Premier League reigning champions Vipers sports club will travel more than 300kms north of the country to take on Onduparaka FC in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at the Greenlight stadium on Tuesday, 26 February as they look to close more on leaders KCCA.

This is the sixth time the two sides will be facing off since the West Nile side joined the top flight league in the 2016/17 season.

Vipers have won three of the five meetings, drawing one and losing the other. They have scored nine goals passed the Arua-based club and conceded twice.

The Venoms visit Arua for a date with the Caterpillars knowing only a win will be good enough as pursuit of the league title continues to gain momentum towards the last 10 league matches of the season.

This will be the third time Vipers visit Onduparaka at the Greenlight stadium with the past meetings ending in a 1-0 win for the caterpillars in 2016/17 and a goalless draw in 2017/18 season.

Key Stats

Vipers will be seeking for a double over their counterparts having won the first round encounter 3-0 at St Mary’s stadium.

Onduparaka has not beaten Vipers in the previous 4 league fixtures between the two clubs as their only win happened in the first meeting when a Shaban Muhammed strike settled a closely contested tie in 2016.

Vipers come into this fixture on the back of a resounding 3-0 victory over Bright Stars FC while Onduparaka overcame Mbarara City 2-1 away in Mbarara to inflict the first home loss to the Ankole Lions this season.

Goalkeeping coach Moses Oloya will be returning to Arua on a different technical bench to face former employers as he joined Vipers from Onduparaka this season.

Vipers are 2nd, 4 points behind leaders KCCA on the 16 team league table having amassed 41 points from 20 games played so far while the Caterpillars lie 6th with 30 points, 11 below the Venoms.

The match will be live on Sanyuka TV at 4pm.
