The final list of match officials for the upcoming 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations has been confirmed today by CAF and it involves 26 Centre Referees and 30 Assistant Referees.
The list sees the presence of 32 different nationalities from across the continent.
Mark Ssonko is the only Ugandan who has been selected among the 30 assistant referees to take charge of the games in the continental showpiece.
Uganda last had a centre referee officiate at the Afcon tournament in Angola 2010, and that was Muhammad Ssegonga.
The confirmed referees and assistant referees underwent medical screening, theoretical and physical drills in their quest to make the list for the final tournament.
Two Kenyan referees have also been selected for the tournament. Peter Waweru has been included in the list of 26 referees while Gilbert Cheruiyot is among the 30 assistant referees. No Tanzanian official made the cut.
The 2019 African Cup of Nations is set to take place in Egypt from June 21st to July 19th.
