Two members of Namisindwa District Commission have been arrested for allegedly soliciting bribes from applicants.
The suspects are Apollo Wopicho, the Vice Chairperson Namisindwa District Service Commission and Alex Wonekha, a member of the Commission.
Namisindwa Resident District Commissioner, Moses Kigai Wamoto confirmed the arrest of the duo but declined to divulge details.
The arrest of the duo follows unrest in Namisindwa following the recent recruitment by the District Service Commission. Tension has been building in Namisindwa following demands by residents for the dismissal of the District Service Commission members for alleged bribery.
Last week, some parents and applicants stormed Namisindwa District Service Commission accusing members of conning them of their money with promises of hiring them.
Some of the applicants reportedly paid up to Shs5 million to the District Commission Members to secure jobs in vain.
