Uganda’s Deputy Ambassador to China, Henry Mayega, has said people power, pressure group, will not scratch nor shake National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) government for a single minute. The Amb. Mayega said a few hours after Kyadondo East legislator, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, had named regional coordinators to mobilize support ahead of the 2021 general elections. Singer turned politician Kyagulanyi is the patron, he also announced that he will stand for presidency in the fourth coming elections. “As I have said before, People power will not scratch the NRM even for a single minute. I think they are just here to replace Kizza Besigye”. Amb. Mayega said. Appearing on NTV, a local television earlier today, the NRM senior cadre, said people power is here to replace Dr. Kizza Besigye, the country’s strongest and famous opposition leader but not president Museveni. However, he didn’t elaborate how Kyagulanyi would replace Dr. Besigye. He reminded Ugandans to reflect on what the current government has done for development of their country, peace and stability and implored youth to explore opportunities in the current government other than criticizing it. Following his declaration, self-proclaimed Ghetto president who has since faced bitter side of police, manifested by continuous blocking of his music shows and mobilization campaigns, he stands a test to turn his overzealous crowd into votes in the coming general elections. “There will always be people who are overzealous and so you will see some Police officers going overboard just like the person who threw stones at the President’s convoy so that’s not new,” he said. The MP is currently facing charges of disobedience of statutory duty contrary to section 116 of the Penal Code Act, committed in July 2018 at Buganda road magistrates’ court and treason and malicious damage of wind screen president’s car in March last year. The ambassador also clarified that there are laws that govern meetings and there are people in the country who oblivious know what to do but can never respect such laws. “ Let them seek permission from police and then go ahead with their activities,” he said “They cry that hotels are threatened if they host them, but wasn’t Mugisha Muntu allowed to go to Serena when he was launching his party? Let them wonder why they were not allowed by the hotels, maybe they are a threat to the business,” he said.
