Speaker Rebecca Kadaga has again courted controversy after she wrote to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) demanding for the status report on the alleged case of computer misuse to the prejudice of Bukedea Woman MP Anita Among
In a 22nd May 2020 letter, Peter Busiku, the Principal Private Secretary to the Speaker, wrote to the Director CID demanding for a status report over the case where a one Bobly Kinene is accused of cyber-harassing the Bukedea Woman MP.
“I have been instructed by the Rt Hon Speaker of Parliament to request you for an update on the matter of alleged case of Computer Misuse to the prejudice of Hon Anita Among by one Brian Bobly Kinene. Parliament Police SD 05/10/05/2020,”reads Mr Busiku’s letter.
Mr Kinene was arrested last month on allegations that he was behind the circulation of offensive communication against MP Anita among between May 8 and May 10.
Following Mr Kinene’s arrest, Police swung into action and also arrested Busoga Tourism Minister Hellen Namutamba after the latter allegedly told CID detectives that the Busoga Kingdom official was the one behind the attacks on MP Among.
In order to get to the bottom of the case, CID detectives have been analysing telephone data between Mr Kinene and Ms Namutamba to establish connections between the two and also discover what communication was going on.
However, Speaker Kadaga’s letter demanding for the status report now throws a spanner in the works as she is suspected to trying to arm-twist the investigations to exonerate Kinene and Namutamba.
