Acholi NRM delegates reject Kadaga, Mukula and Engola

Must read

National Resistance Movement (NRM) delegates from the Acholi sub-region have distanced themselves from reports that they have endorsed Speaker Rebecca Kadaga as the sole candidate for the position of Second National Vice-Chairperson (Female).

The delegates also insisted that they have not endorsed Mike Mukula for the position of Vice-Chairman (Eastern), Sam Engola for the position of Vice-Chairman (Northern) and Moses Kalangwa for the position of Vice-Chairman (Buganda).

The delegates endorsed Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah for the position of Vice-Chairman(Northern),State Minister for Tourism Godfrey Kiwanda for Vice-Chairman(Central),State Minister for Housing Chris Baryomunsi for the position of Vice-Chairman(Western) and former Tororo Municipality MP Sanjay Tanna for the position of Vice-Chairman(Eastern).

The NRM delegates for Acholi sub-region met yesterday and made the resolutions, despite attempts by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga to bribe them.

The meeting turned rowdy when they rejected attempts by Kadaga to bribe them, forcing her to flee the venue.

Delegates said they cannot vote for Speaker Kadaga for another term because she has served two terms and had promised that the 2016-2021 term will be her final term both as Speaker and as National Vice-Chairperson (Female).

Delegates accused her of failing to honour her word.

The Speaker is fighting for her political life after the State Minister for Lands Persis Namuganza indicated she will challenge her for the position of Second National Vice-Chairperson while the FDC Eastern Uganda Vice Chairperson Salaamu Musumba is challenging her for the Kamuli Woman MP seat.

Voting for the NRM leaders will be conducted during a virtual delegate’s conference that will be held virtually between August 7th to August

The delegate’s conference will be held virtually because of restrictions imposed by the government to curb the spread of Covid-19.
