Famous actor and talented Ugandan singer, Aloysius Matovu Joy together with Swengere family group have joined the National Unity Platform (NUP), a political party launched by presidential hopeful who doubles as Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.
They were welcomed by the principal of the people power movement, Robert Kyagulanyi. Speaking at the NUP headquarters, Mr. Matovu said the country is fed up of the currently leadership and ready to move in the right direction end Mr. Museveni’s rule.
Matovu was born on June 21, 1960 at Kumbu village, Masaka and studied at St Mary’s College Kisubi, Kampala High School and Makerere University. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, specialising in Luganda and Linguistics. He joined drama in 1979, under Kampala Bakayimbira Dramactors. He was picked to join the drama by David Katendeto who appreciated his music talent.
The Swengere family is also part of the group unveiled today. The group is facing charges of inciting violence. They were released on police bond.
However According to Swengere, they are accused of hosting Bobi Wine and supporting the People Power movement.
The presenters who include Kalyowa Atanansi, Hussein Ibanda aka Swengere, Kasolo Alton and Namulondo Zakia aka Mama Kalibbala were released on police bond. Swengere revealed that Mama Kalibbala is wanted because Bobi Wine mentioned her name during the show.
He assumes that Kalyowa Atanansi is accused of hosting Bobi Wine, Hassan Muwanga for sitting in the studio when Bobi Wine is being hosted, Kasolo Alton for standing for the Jinja City mayor on support of Bobi Wine and People Power, Swengere for driving Bobi Wine after the show and Ayub Khan for supporting Bobi Wine.
