ANT’s Mugisha Muntu nominated to contest for 2021 elections

Must read

The Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) party president Gen Mugisha Muntu has been duly cleared by the Electoral Commission to contest for presidency in the 2021 general elections.

Gen. Muntu was declared duly nominated by the electoral body chairman, Justice Simon Byabakama, after he fulfilled all the requirements.

Muntu was accompanied for nomination by senior ANT officials, including acting party president Alice Alaso and Kasese Woman MP Winnie Kiiza.

“Don’t fear, conduct free and fair elections, the country will be behind you,” Muntu called upon the EC in his speech after he was nominated.

“The most critical channel of communication in this time is going to be in the print media, electronic, and social media. We have 60 days to go through 145 districts in the country,” he added.

Muntu added that there is nothing as important as people having their dignity. “We intend to create an environment where people prosper and have their dignity that is given by God,” he said.

“We are a totally different group of people, we are value-driven and we really hope and pray that Ugandans can trust us.”

Muntu joins the incumbent President Yoweri Museveni and Gen. Henry Tumukunde to have successfully finished the nomination process today.

Other two aspirants John Katumba and Nancy Linda Kalembe were rejected over incomplete papers, concerning issues of proof of payment of Shs20m non-refundable nomination fee. Both still have up to tomorrow to fulfill the requirement.

NUP’s Robert Kyagulanyi, FDC’s Patrick Amuriat and Independents Willy Mayambala, and Joseph Kabuleeta will be nominated tomorrow.
