Amuriat granted Shs5M non-cash bail

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Presidential candidate Patrick Oboi Amuriat has been granted non-cash bail of Shs5 million after spending a night at Mpigi Central Police Station (CPS).

The former MP was arrested yesterday as he conversed for votes ahead of general elections slated to take place on Thursday, January 14, 2020.

He was granted bail by Mpigi Court Grade One Magistrate Ruth Nabaasa earlier today, Amuriat charged with riding atop his vehicle and was subsequently released on non-cash bail of Shs5 million. Sureties were however ordered to  pay Shs10m non-cash bond.

Since the kicking off of presidential campaigns in November last year, Amuriat has been arrested and detained 10 times. He is seeking to take over leadership from the incumbent President Yoweri Museveni who has been in power for 35 years.
