The Kampala Metropolitan Police Traffic Commander, SSP Norman Musinga has announced guidelines that will be followed during the 2021 presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled for Thursday January 14.
The National Electoral Commission will conduct the tallying of presidential results from 14th and 17th January, 2021 at Cricket Grounds Kyambogo.
The traffic guidelines that will be in place are;
There will be normal traffic flow along Kampala-Jinja Highway.
Kyambogo Cricket Ground (National Tally Centre) will only be accessible to accredited party officials.
The accredited VIPs will access the National Tally Centre through Kyambogo Road, Kyambogo University Western gate and park as they will be directed by Traffic Police.
Access to Kyambogo University will be restricted to only accredited persons.
Emergency vehicles (Fire brigade, Ambulances and Medical Team) will access the venue through Banda.
Eastern gate will be the exit route for emergency vehicles.
No procession along roads will be allowed.
Fuel tankers will be prohibited from accessing the City Centre.
There will be restricted movement of trucks loaded with sand, stones, scraps, garbage and any kind of explosives along all roads in Kampala Metropolitan Area.
Parking along roads is prohibited, motor vehicles found abandoned by the road side will be towed to the nearest police station at the owners cost and inconvenience.
All road users are reminded to adhere with SOPs of Ministry of Health and curfew time.
Any motorist who contravenes provisions of traffic regulations will be dealt with, in accordance with the Traffic and Road Safety Act 1998.
All motorists and other road users are advised to comply with the above Traffic guidelines to avoid inconveniences.
