Parliament has approved Maj (Rtd) Jessica Alupo as the Vice President and Robina Nabbanja as the Prime Minister of Uganda.
The two were approved by a simple majority in the August House convening at Kololo Independence grounds.
Chaired by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, the motion for approval of Jessica Alupo as Vice President of Uganda was moved by Ruhinda North MP Thomas Tayebwa.
Speaking after approval, Alupo applauded the President for entrusting her with this honour of the second highest office in the land. “I will not spare any energy in serving this country on this appointment.” She said
Jessica Alupo is a District Woman Representative for Katakwi. She is a retired army officer at the rank of Major. She is a former Minister of Education.
Later the House moved to approve the appointment of Robinah Nabbanja as the Prime Minister of Uganda. The motion was moved by Kinkizi East Member of Parliament Chris Baryomunsi. She was approved by a simple majority.
Last week, By virtue of the Authority given to the President of Uganda by Articles: 108(2), 108A (1), 113(1) and 114(1) of the 1995 Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, President Yoweri Museveni released the new cabinet list naming former Education Minister Jessica Alupo as Vice President while outgoing State health Minister, Robinah Nabbanja was named Prime Minister.
