Government has declared tomorrow Tuesday 20th July, 2021 a public holiday to mark Eid al-Adha.
“The Honourable Minister of Public Service informs the general public that Tuesday 20th July 2021 is Eid al-Adha and will be observed as Public Holiday throughout Uganda,” the Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Public Service Catherine Bitarakwate Musingwiire wrote in an official announcement.
She added that the day will be observed from home due to the prevailing Covid-19 restrictions on gatherings to prevent 2nd wave infections.
Eid al-Adha, Arabic for Festival of the Sacrifice, is the latter of the two official holidays celebrated within Islam.
During the festival of Eid al-Adha, Muslims acknowledge the devotion of Ibrahim, who was willing to sacrifice his son, Ismail, under the order of Allah.
