The Uganda soccer beach men’s national team, Sand Cranes have been ranked 6th in Africa according to the latest rankings from Beach Soccer Worldwide.
Globally, the Sand Cranes are now in the 38th position with 277 points, an improvement from 86th.
This follows their exploits at the 2021 Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations tournament in Senegal which saw the Cranes finish fourth. They are now the best ranked country in the CECAFA region.
Senegal tops in Africa and is the only African nation to make the top ten in the world as they occupy 8th position. Morocco (19), Egypt (20), Mozambique (22), Nigeria (23) complete Africa’s top 5.
Russia leads the rankings ahead of Portugal in the second place. Brazil, Japan and Italy complete the world’s top five nations.
