President Yoweri Museveni has held a meeting with the executives of soft drinks companies in the country.
During the meeting that took place at State House, Entebbe yesterday, the President and his guests from Coca-Cola, Century Bottling Company and Crown Beverages (Pepsi-Cola) reviewed issues pertaining to the continued partnership between the Government of Uganda and those Companies with a view to strengthen further the economic, social and political development of Uganda.
According to statistics, soft drinks companies in Uganda contribute immensely to tax collections. Coca-Cola Company alone brings in more than Shs.100 billion annually in direct and indirect taxes to the Government of Uganda.
The Executives of soft drinks companies included the Managing Director of Century Bottling Company, Mr. Conrad van Niekerk, the Chairman of Coca-Cola in Africa, Mr. Philip Gutsche and the Executive Chairman of Crown Beverages (Pepsi Uganda), Mr. Amos Nzeyi. Present were officials from the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).
