Must read

Hajji Sulaiman Kabega, one of the leaders of the Kiwatule mosque that was recently raided by police acting on false information, has died this afternoon at his Kiwatule home.

The deceased was discharged from Kitante Hospital the previous day, where he had been admitted after he developed high blood pressure.

The deceased is the father of Sheikh Dr. Ismail Kalule, an outspoken Muslim cleric who was arrested in connection with the 2010 Kampala bombings, and recently acquitted, only to be rearrested moments later.

Hajji Kabega’s other son, Sheikh Yunus Mukasa, is the Deputy Imam of Kiwatule mosque, who was recently arrested together with some faithful including preachers from India, based on wrong intelligence. The group was later released and the police boss General Kale Kayihura apologised for the arrests.

The deceased will be buried tomorrow at Kkungu after Buwate off Najjera-Kira Road, Kira town council, Wakiso district.

Recently, Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo acquitted Dr. Kalule and seven co-accused, part of the 13 men accused of killing 76 people in twin bombings in Kampala in 2010. However, security operatives rearrested the acquitted including Dr. Kalule, Yahya Suleiman Mbuthia, Mohamed Hamid Suleiman, Omar Awadh Omar and Abubakeri Batemyetto.
