Renowned events promoter, tycoon Emmanuel Lwasa of Lwasa Events who is also rumoured to be in a relationship with musician Desire Luzinda is popularly known for his flashy cars.
However, it has turned out that one of his cars was stolen. This all began when his luxurious car, a Mercedes Benz with customised registration number LWASA4 was intercepted at Gatuna border as some people tried to sneak it into Rwanda.
The Rwanda police said that according to Interpol, the car was stolen from South Africa and it was listed on a notice on the I-24/7 system, which connects all the 190 Interpol member countries.
The Benz, together with a motor cycle and Land Cruiser registered UAS 966W was handed over yesterday to Uganda’s Ambassador to Rwanda, Richard Kabonero by the Police Commissioner for Operations and Public Order, Emmanuel Butera, at the RNP General Headquarters in Kacyiru.
The Mercedes Benz was intercepted in May, the motorcycle later in November, while the Land Cruiser was recovered in December.
They were all at the time attempting to cross into Rwanda through Gatuna border post.
Previously, Interpol also impounded cars belonging to among other people singer Leila Kayondo and Pastor Namutebi.
