Veteran journalist Basajja Mivule has today joined ruling party National Resistance Movement (NRM) 27 days after he was unveiled at Bobi Wine’s political party, the National Unity Platform (NUP).
Mivule was unveiled by events promoter Balaam Barugahara at Eureka Hotel in Ntinda. He joins NRM after he was arrested over treason charges.
The political talk show host revealed that he’s ready to work with Museveni and asked for a car to help him in his activities.
Mivule who is currently on police bond, is accused of sectarianism and inciting violence when he recorded a video asking why all top security officials heading various security organs come from one region.
He earlier pledged to continue speaking against president Museveni’s leadership every time they make a mistake. He said answerer to the raised question is not to intimidate him, arrest, torture him rather to come up and explain.
He has been reporting to the Crime Investigation Department (CID), Kibuli. In the course of the journey to make Museveni accountable he has turned against NUP, a party he has just joined and its leadership.
“Bobi Wine will never be president and the incumbent Mr. Yoweri Museveni is not willing to leave state house for people benchmarking. God cannot allow drug addicts, hooligans, slanderers, abusive people, and homosexuals to get hold of Uganda’s State House. They can abuse all they want, but such people will not rule this country,” he said
He said whoever wants to promote peace and harmony should apologize and that is what I did. But people started abusing me, throwing around vulgar words. Whoever is abusing is hidden in People Power, why don’t the People Power leaders come up to guide their people against such bad behavior?
He signed documents indicating that he is ready to work with the incumbent and asked for two cars to facilitate his work.
