Professor Noble Banadda, a Bio-systems Engineer at the department of Agriculture Makerere University has died.
Prof. Banadda succumbed to #Covid-19 virus this evening.
Makerere University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe mourned his death describing it as a sad day for the university community.
Prof. Banadda was chosen as the 2018 Pius XI Medal award winner. The Pius XI Medal is a global award given every two years by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences to a scientist under the age of 45, who has conducted and shown exceptional promise in scientific researchThe Pontifical Academy of Sciences focuses on areas such as science and technology of global problems, science to solve problems of the developing world, scientific policy and bioethics. Prof Banadda was the first African to win the award since it was first established by Pope John XXIII in 1961.
