Lawyers in Kenya will lay down their ‘tools’ for a week beginning today, to protest against the killing of their colleague Willie Kimani.
Kimani, a human rights advocate was last week extra-judicially murdered alongside his client Joseph Mwendwa and their driver Joseph Muiruri, sparking off a flurry of criticism from various sections of the public, including the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) whose President Isaac Okero declared the weeklong protest by lawyers.
Meanwhile, police has arrested three officers suspected of involvement in Kimanis’ death. The Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet said Senior Sergeant Fredrick Leliman, Corporal Stephen Chebulet and Police Constable Silvia Wanjiku were being held in connection with the three murders.
