The new media battle lines in Uganda will be fought in the television sector as the clamour for supremacy rages on between several TV stations, notably NBS and NTV.
Already, seasoned journalist Edris Kiggundu is headed for NBS TV as a Senior Investigative Reporter, while sources have intimated to the EagleOnline that another top journo from a rival station will also soon join the Kira-Road station in the same capacity.
‘After 12 years at the great institution, which is The Observer, time has come for me to move on and pursue other career interests… As some of you could have already heard, I am equally elated to be joining another great institution, NBS TV. Over the last couple of years, NBS has made great strides towards becoming the leading TV station in Uganda and the region. They have revamped their operations and tried to tighten the bolts and nuts here and there. There is still some work to do and a long way to go. The management of NBS TV believes I should be part of this exciting journey in a senior role. They have wonderful projects coming up and I am only flattered for the confidence and trust they have placed in me, to be part of that effort’ Kiggundu posted on his Facebook page.
He added: ’On this new expedition, I hope to learn new lessons and to share my experiences. For the remainder of this month, I shall continue serving The Observer diligently. Starting August, my new address will be 3rd Floor Media Plaza, Kamwokya’.
With a wealth of professional experience, Kiggundu recently announced his resignation from The Observer newspaper.
Meanwhile, it is worth noting that over the past several months NBS TV has ‘poached’ several senior journalists from NTV among them Charles Odongtho, Rukh Shana Namuyimba, Solomon Serwanja, MC Kats and Moses Walugembe.
