The Nakawa Grade One Magistrate’s Court has today granted Shs 50 million non-cash bail to four more Kaweesi murder suspects, who had spent six months without trial.
Through their lawyers led by Geoffrey Turyamusiima, magistrate Noah Sajjabi granted Fiswali Hibwenge, Sauda Ayub, Asuman Mugoya and Swaleh Damulira bail, after agreeing with counsel Turyamusiima on the merits of the suspects’ application.
Magistrate Sajjabi ordered the four to report to court after every two weeks, and their two standing sureties were also told to pay Shs 50 million non-cash.
Two week ago Mr. Sajabbi released seven suspects of the 22 and ordered them to pay Shs 50million non cash bail, but two of them, Majid Ojegere and Ali Khisa, were re-arrested by police operatives and taken to a hitherto unknown place. Eight of them were committed to High Court for trial.
The 22 suspects were arrested in relation to the March 17 assassination of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Andrew Felix Kaweesi, his driver Godfrey Wambeewa and bodyguard Kenneth Erau at Kulambiro, a Kampala suburb.
