Kigezi religious leaders condemn brutality against Mps Bobi Wine, Francis Zaake

Must read

Religious leaders from Kigezi region have condemned government for its brutality against opposition leaders in the country including the recent torture of legislators Robert Kyagulanyi a.ka Bobi Wine and Francis Zaake who are admitted in hospitals in critical conditions.

“We are all deeply feeling very sad and very concerned about the brutal torture inflicted on Hon.Kyagulanyi … (Bobi Wine), among others,” reads a statement released by the leaders led by Fr. Gaetano Batanyenda, Head of Clergy Kabale Diocese.

The condemnation by the religious leaders comes after the legislators were brutally handled by security agents amidst election violence in the Arua Municipality Member of Parliament by elections in which the Independent Kassiano Wadri defeated NRM’s Nusur Tiperu and others.

“This act is an evidence that Uganda is truly being led by merciless, bloodthirsty, inhuman, and callous tormentors disguising as leaders,” the statement further reads.

The religious leaders have further condemned government for what they say trumped up charges against the legislators and others now detained in prisons. “Miserably, on top of all that torture, faking charges on these individuals,” they say in their statement.

“Most assuredly, Uganda shall never be safe in hands of a few human gods disguising as democratic leaders. To Bobi Wine and others affected, that’s not the end, May God heal you and restore your wisdom,” they say.

The leaders have advised that president Museveni to repent for the torture his security inflicted on the opposition leaders and civilians. “Finally, We urge President Museveni to kindly to reconsider repentance as soon as possible if at all he truly believes in God,” they say.
