Minister for foreign affairs Sam Kahamba Kutesa says there is no political crisis in Uganda despite the recent fracas the transpired in Arua leading to brutal arrest and torture and detaining of politicians.

This week, Uganda witnessed sporadic protests in and abroad demanding for unconditional release of Kyadondo east MP Robert Kyagulanyi who was incarcerated at Makindye military detention facility however in the process of combating them military police assaulted protesters and journalist as arrests were made.

Kutesa who acknowledged the shooting cases of violence, disturbances and abuse of human rights in the country, said the rule of law will prevail to whoever is responsible for illegal acts.
on the recent political tension that led to dropping of charges of illegal possession of fire arms and rounds of ammunitions from Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi, Kutesa said the move is not affecting government’s image and it was the Directorate of Public Prosecution’s (DPP) decision.

He called on journalists to desist from playing Activism role in Ugandan affairs and execute their assignments. “Media deserves respect but as you do your jobs don’t be activists instead of journalist and do balance reporting. We shall punish those people who beat journalists,” he said at media centre.

“I don’t blame you main stream media because you can interview me and publish accurate information. The problem is on social media where misinformation is the order of the day, kill someone even when is alive,” he said.
