National Unity platform’s (NUP) Presidential Candidate Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine has met with the Electoral Commission and lodged his complaint over continuous harassments and brutalizing of Ugandans.
Yesterday, Bobi halted his campaign trails after the head of his security accorded to him by the Electoral commission, Music producer Dan Magic were teargassed and hurt during campaign trails in Kayunga.
Flanked by his campaign team, Bobi Wine availed pictures of ugly scenes where his supporters and campaign team members were brutalised and man-handled by security agencies of police and the Army.
During the meeting, Kyagulanyi asked the chairman of the electoral commission Justice Simon Byabakama to preside over the electoral process noting that he is not in charge since he has failed to engage security agencies over the excessive force exhibited in campaigns.
Bobi Wine said that he had written two notes to the EC and also spoken to the chairperson on phone about continuous blocking of his campaign rallies but they did not respond.
“I have written two protest notes to the Electoral commission (EC) and also spoken to you Justice Byabakama on phone about continuous blocking of our campaign rallies but you have since not responded,” he said.
“Justice Byabakama admitted that he didn’t know anything, that he didn’t even know that I was arrested or that I am being blocked. I don’t know if the EC passed an order that I am not supposed to use the tarmac roads.”
“We have lodged in our complaint to set the record straight. We know that the EC will not work towards our complaints but we came and did what is necessary,” he said
