The NRM Deputy Secretary-General Hon Namayanja Rose Nsereko yesterday launched the Hope Christian Aid Uganda, a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) with members from the United Kingdom and Romania whose intention is to train and equip youth and local communities with employable skills.
In her speech, Hon Namayanja applauded the organisation and described its intervention as timely and complementary to government efforts of skilling Ugandans and commended them for training youth and other interested locals at a free cost.
“The bible says that the least you do to your brothers and sisters – you do unto God. I want to thank you for practicing what you preach and there is nothing as powerful as the gospel of action because people see what you do not what you talk about. We shall work with you to make this project a success,” Hon Namayanja pledged to the NGO leaders.
Mrs Namayanja said the government has prioritised technical education through the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT) and science-based education which is geared towards equipping youth with employable skills required in the job market.
She also urged locals of Kijjamanyi village and the people of Kasanda to not only embrace the works of the organization but also fully embrace all government programs like Emyooga and the newly launched parish development model if they are to get out of poverty and join the money economy.
“The project doesn’t care about the colour of your party. It is a project for everyone and that is the principle that our government follows,” Namayanja stressed.
The project director, Mr Eliab Naturinda says the organisations’ mission is to train the youth of Kasanda, Mubende and surrounding districts in tailoring, carpentry among other skills required for survival at free cost.
“Our purpose here in Kasanda and Kiganda sub-county to be specific is to equip youth and other interested locals with lifesaving skills in order to start up their own jobs and survive without much hustle,” Mr Naturinda said.
He added that on top of skilling youth, the organization shall construct valley dams in the area to provide safe drinking water for people in all stressed villages and as well work with district authorities to improve on the poor road network which is in a bad state.
The function was also attended by the Bugangaizi East Member of Parliament Hon Aisha Agaba Black, the district NRM Chairperson Haji Siraji Sendawula among other leaders.
