Despite yesterday’s much anticipated 8-month ban provided by local football governing body Fufa, KCCA FC Sam Simbwa still isn’t getting any peace.
Eccentric Ssimbwa who has coached for over 22 years is in trouble over an audio tape with his alleged voice claiming to bribe referees to get positive results for the current Uganda Premier League table leaders who are financed by the wealthy Kampala Capital City Authority.
With the ban’s humiliation still haven’t died off and now Ram Hadji, Chief Executive Officer at Express Football Club whom Ssimbwa helped win their last league title in 2011 is suggesting the tactician should be sent to jail for his crimes instead of that ‘joke’ of a Fufa verdict.
Hadji’s statement reads:
“Coach Sam Ssimbwa has been banned for 8 months for confessing on tape that he paid off referees for match fixing. Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) issued a statement today also stating that since he was already suspended for 3 months those will be deducted, so he will sit out for 5 months and then resume, WHAT A JOKE.
After a three month investigation this is what you were able to come up with ?
- Ok so if he paid off officials to win matches for KCCA FC, who are these officials. and what is their penalty.
- Why is there no mention of KCCA FC who are the main beneficiaries of this scum. and what is their penalty.
Why do then people wonder why Football is on a downward spiral in Uganda, no wonder fans have eloped to European leagues and now i can understand their frustrations. lets site some examples of this scourge.
– In Nigeria –
Plateau United Feeders and Police when they won against Akurba FC and Babayaro FC 79-0 and Police Machine won 67-0, all four teams and the match officials from these matches were given lifetime bans, while in Uganda SC Villa did a 22-1 against Akol FC and were crowned Champions of Uganda and still proudly count it.
– In Germany –
In 2005 when it was revealed that Second Division referee Robert Hoyzer was involved in a €2 million match fixing scandal. several matches in the Second and Third Division. Hoyzer awarded controversial penalties and sent off players including a match between Paderborn and Hamburg, which saw two controversial penalties and a red card. Hoyzer was sentenced to more then two years in jail, and the players and officials also received stringent bans for their participation. but we see this every match day and Ssimbwa’s confession justifies that.
– In France –
Olympique de Marseille was fresh off of winning the 1993 UEFA Champions League. Marseille had a triumphant season with their fourth consecutive Ligue 1 title and the French Cup, but it was all undone with a stupid attempted bribe of several Valenciennes players. The Valenciennes players were approached by a Marseille official and a player revealed to be Jean-Jacques Eydelie, with an offer to throw their upcoming match and avoid injury to Marseille players, according to The Independent. Marseille were eventually relegated to Second Division and Tapie was ousted when additional financial irregularities were revealed.
– In Spain –
former Premier League and international player Delroy Facey was jailed for two and a half years. Ex-West Brom and Grenada striker Facey was found guilty of conspiring to bribe non-league players.
so this and many other match fixing scandals have been handled by integral people and they cleaned up their game in Kenya, Italy and world over. let not our efforts go to waste. officially this is the longest post i have ever written and signed off. these are my own words.
Now why would you ask why Ugandan Football is on a downward spiral. FUFA revisit this mistake and set the right example once and for all, otherwise your reputation is at stake.”
