The widow of slain city businessman Eriya Bugembe Ssebunya also known as Kasiwukira has been re-arrested.
Recently acquitted of murder charges in the High Court – a ruling that left a divided public opinion, Sarah Nabikolo was re-arrested today at Busia border.
According to police, Nabikolo was using different names on her passport. Initially when asked to produce her passport, she said she didn’t have one and instead produced a driving permit. However, on checking her bag, her passport was found.
She allegedly said she was heading to Mombasa for a business trip.
This comes with just days after the appeal against the High Court’s ruling on October 12 that saw her freed.
Judge Wilson Masalu Musene acquitted Nabikolo of murder charges on October 12, saying the prosecution had failed to prove that she was part of a ploy to kill her husband. The same court however, convicted her cousin Sandra Nakkungu and a police constable Jaden Ashraf, a ruling that left public’s tongues wagging.
